Curiosity, Cat Rambo and Writer Unboxed

Some people may call it being nosey, I call it being curious. When I went to check out the authors list for Liminality at the Library of the Living Dead forum, I scanned the list not only looking for my name, (There it is!) but also to see which other stories and authors also made the list.

One name (with aplogies to the other authors–I’ll Google them next) stood out: Cat Rambo. I remembered the name from a short story at that I’d particularly enjoyed. Find it here: Clockwork Fairies.

Curiosity (or nosiness) about her other work led to a Google search, which naturally brought up Cat’s website, The World Remains Mysterious. Wow. No wonder her name seemed familiar. Rambo’s blog is chock full of writing advice, tips, reviews, story prompts, links to her fiction, interviews and much more. It’s going to be fun reading as much as I can there, but that’s not all.

One particular post Plotting and Re-Plotting Stories and the link contained in it from Writer Unboxed sent my mind reeling.

The article features a reflection on the bare-bones of story elements. It offers a way to write a stripped-down plot in just a few steps. Since I rarely outline and usually think of character and setting long before a plot idea sets in, the article has helped me get several stalled stories back on track.

Thanks to curiosity (okay, nosiness) and some very informative people and articles, I’m hoping to have a very productive few weeks, months…
